It takes a community to ensure Washington DC’s health, safety, and security concerns are heard. Take an active role in protecting our communities from railroad “business as usual” by raising your voice and demanding that concerns be addressed.
Don’t be railroaded. DC deserves better. DC residents deserve better.
Here are some ways to help make sure that city and neighborhood needs are addressed:

- Help spread the word within the community to be sure no resident or business owner is blindsided by this invasive, large-scale construction project, which could last over half a decade.
- Make sure DC commuters are well aware of what’s coming so we can mitigate the traffic and parking needs in Capitol Hill and Near Southeast/Navy Yard.
- Let the Washington Nationals Baseball fans in your life (and, in the near future, D.C. United soccer fans) know how construction might affect their travel to games and available parking.
Hold DDOT and FHWA Accountable
The Virginia Avenue Tunnel project is under review through the NEPA process and will be under the accountability of the District Department of Transportation if construction moves forward. Help them to be an active watchdog on CSX’s activities, traffic, right-of-way, and parking issues in the District:

FHWA is considered the lead agency under NEPA for the project. Tell them both about your concerns and help them to understand how this project negatively impacts the District neighborhoods and our children, families, and livelihoods.
